Tae-eul-ju
Exercise
Most daoist martial arts,
preventative health exercises using the principles of qi, combine
exercise and acupressure therapies to stretch the entire body, and,
simultaneously, act as a form of meditation.
There is an old Korean proverb:
Dancing strengthens the flow of blood through the arteries while
music strengthens one's disposition. All daoist martial arts are
rooted in dance, therefore these exercises are simply forms of
dancing. For people long ago this was the basic principle of life
that served to unify the relationship between sound and motion.
These people thought that this was the basic principle of
meditation, that all movement contained sound and all sound
contained movement.
Tae-eul-ju Exercise is meditation
in motion. Through sixteen basic movements, corresponding to each
syllable of the Tae-eul Mantra, we are able to activate the healing
qi from the universe and expel toxic energy from our bodies. The
blocked circulation of qi can create distress in the emotional body
and disease in the physical body. Each movement of Tae-eul-ju
Exercise strengthens and optimizes the function of one or more
internal organs. These slow controlled movements, synchronized with
the breath, bring harmony to the body through circulating the fire
and water energies. This improves the emotional state of mind and
the physical state of the body, allowing for a more spiritually
balanced and dynamic way of life. Continuous practice of Tae-eul-ju
Exercise unifies the circulation within one's qi meridians,
corrects posture, and harmonizes mind and body.
